QP/Shell Petrochemical project is a joint project between QP and Shell to develop a new JV petrochemical complex at Ras Laffan (80% QP / 20 % Shell) to add value to ethane and Propane from North Field and ensure optimum utilization of Qatar’s hydrocarbon resources. As a globally-advantaged petrochemical growth platform in Ras Laffan Industrial City the project is set for mechanical completion by Q2 2016 with start-up by end of Q3 2016. The project configuration as the base case is mixed feed cracker and aiming for production of Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG), Linear Alpha Olefins, and Propylene based OXO Alcohols.

Provides professional technical service to the QP/Shell cracker Projects in all areas of, Mechanical and Structural Engineering items, including power generation and power distribution systems during Concept Optimisation and Feasibility Studies; FEED and Detailed design in EPIC Execution stage, ensuring that designs are optimal, safe, cost effective and in compliance with the latest Codes, Standards, national and Corporate requirement and procedures. Assist in development of specific project execution deliverables, e.g. Mechanical and Structural facilities basis, and specifications based on owner engineering standards & practices. Evaluate equipment designs, participate in shop inspections, monitor equipment installations, and witness equipment testing to ensure compliance with Job specifications. Develop maintenance programs for Mechanical/Structure and equipment to insure reliable and safe operations. Assure quality of Mechanical/Structure facilities design and installation by continuous review and monitoring of Contractors work, ensuring compliance with Job specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (for Senior Mechanical Engineer position) and BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (for Senior Structural Engineer position) from an internationally recognized university, preferably corporate membership with a chartered organization. Significant amount of experience within the O&G industry with an International Consultancy Organization, EPIC contractor or end user in the field of Mechanical or Structural design/engineering and start-up of O&G processing facilities, gas sweetening plants and sulphur recovery units. Familiar with various design software’s and industry codes and standards.Experienced in Concept, FEED & Detailed engineering development and handling of various packages like amine package; glycol package; flare package; water treatment package;incinerator package etc. Work experience in the Arabian Gulf countries is desirable

QP offers competitive Tax free salary and remuneration package. Terms of Employment include 6 weeks leave per annum, travel to home country, comprehensive health cover, accommodation and schooling allowances.
